Encounters with a Living God - Sermon Series on New Words and Experiences of God
Jan 8, 2012: Looking for the Living God. Pastor Bob shares about prayer journeys (his and other people’s) and his experience of fellowship with God. Scriptures are Isaiah 50:15-51:4; 1 John 1:1-4; and Matthew 18:20.
Jan 15, 2012: Confessions of a Checkbook Grouch. Pastor Bob shares about how he used to grouch at a certain innocent party when he paid the bills and how God spoke to him to help him overcome. Scriptures are Romans 7:15, 20, and 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Jan 22, 2012: Infinite Power, Personal Care. Praise Team leader Stephen Carpenter says, “God’s presence is awesome! Have you ever taken the time to explore how vast God’s power REALLY is?” Stephen leads us on a journey of discovery, focusing on the infinite power of our creator and how God, even in the midst of the infinite, still wants an up close and personal relationship with us through his Son Jesus. Scriptures are Psalm 89:8-14 and John 6:35-40.
Jan 29, 2012: Powerful, Empowering God. Russ Eakle, the drummer on Good Shepherd’s Praise Team, will share about how he’s experienced God and come to know him as an empowering God.
Feb 5, 2012: When Grace Became My Word. When life keeps handing us hardships, God’s grace is enough to see us through. Kim Carpenter will share about when she questioned whether God’s grace was sufficient, and her journey to healing and knowing the depth of God’s love and grace for each of us. Scriptures: Isaiah 40:27-31 and 2 Corinthians 12: 7-10.
Feb 12, 2012: Passionate Search for God. Would you climb a tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus? Zacchaeus did. Find out why passion for our Lord is such an important aspect of a believer's life and how it has helped Leah Neczypor take leaps and bounds in her own faith journey. Scriptures: Luke 19: 1-10 and John 15:9-11.
Feb 19, 2012: Mended Hearts and Marriages. Pastor Bob shares about how the Spirit has worked in his life and in others to mend brokenness and bring healing. Scriptures are Ephesians 2:11-22; John 3:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:14-19.
